P-47 THUNDERBOLT              7/2006

The model showed in the cut-out presents P-47D 10, on which flew Maj. Francis „Gabby Gabreski.

CAUTION!!! In the cut out there we have anticipated the possibility to paint the model in 2 ways- the model flown by Bolesław Gładych. Pieces concidering this model are red.

THE GENERAL COMMENTS

The model is considered rather difficult. Before gluing, get familia with the main plan of the model and the assembly drawing. . During the gluing you should retouch the edges with the properly choosen colour. Pieces marked * should be glued to 0,5-0,7 mm cardboard.Pieces marked with the letter P should be glued similarly as pieces marked with letter L. While gluing the fuselage check the symmetry of its gluingness. Places not printed, cut curbs, scratches, etc. paint with waterless paint  or other suitable colours. After gluing the model paint with colourless and half matt varnish to make the construction more resistant from damage and much easier to clean from dust. Use the rule of  matching pieces together “on dry”, try on twice-then glue. While gluing the body pay attention to the symmetry.

Begin the build of the model from gluing the power plant. As accordnig to drawing 1-3 make the engine mount, the cylinder and the additional equipment. All of the patterns made from wire make as according to the showed model. Glue the ready power plant to frame 1-1a. From the bottom of frame 1 glue formed piece 2 and 3. As showed in the drawing 4 form the engines shield, to which you glue from the inside pieces 53a-58a. Begin the build of the body from gluing the skeleton as showed in drawings 7-9. Glue the pilots cabin equipment as showed in the assembly drawings. Glue the instrument board  as showed in the assembly drawings and glue in the proper space. The armour plate and the gunsight glue as showed in drawing 10. The control stick  as well as the seat glue together as showed in the assembly drawings and glue in the marked space to the pilots cabin floor. The next segments of the body make as showed in the assembly drawings 20. As according to drawing 24 in segment 25 glue element 25a,bL,P. On segment 26 from the bottom glue pieces 26b, 26c+d. In segment 27 cut out an opening, to which you glue piece 27a. On frame 26a put the ready tail wheel. The stabilizer fin make as shwoed in drawing 20. During making the tail planes skeleton put the pattern made from wire pattern 9 and stretch through segment 27. The wings fixing make as showed in the assembly drawings. Glue it from two shelves. After joining glue them together. You can make the undercarriages opening as well as the mashine gun range. You can also make the flaps and airlerons as separate elements. Make the wings built-up

elements from the bottom from pieces 40-40c and frames 40d-40f. Piece 41L,P glue to the bottom of the wings, in the place where the ‘pipes” join -piece 40-  the wing. The undercarriages leg make as showed in the drawing. In its main rolled part cut out an hole(look at drawing 28), to which you put piece 33P,L. Fitted earlier in the undercarriages cavity. The undercarriages girder piece 44e as well as pattern made from wire glue right after gluing the leg to the cavity. As according to the assembly drawing make the undercarriage legs shield. Glue the cap with the propeller. Additional elements, which are: antenna, fairing and the fuel tank glue in the marked spaces as showed in the assembly drawings. The ready model should be varnished with colourless matt varnish.

WE WISH GREAT FUN WHILE MAKING THE MODEL.
