RUSSIAN SWIMMING TANK T-40
The Russian swimming tank T-40 has been worked out into scale 1: 25. The model is considered easy to be built. Its build demands only precision and patience. The model introduces a tank from an unidentified unit.
To make the model the following materials and tools will be needed: sharp scissors, modeling knife, ruler, glue(as you wish), copper wire different thickness, coloured ink or paints to retouch the edges.
Before making the model get familiar with the entire booklet. We begin the build of the model by analysing the description and the assembly drawings. We recommend making each part as follows as well as matching pieces several times before gluing tem together.

THE BUILD OF THE MODEL
Body:
Begin the build of the model from gluing the cardboard and cutting out the elements of the skeleton W1 to W17. Then from the ready elements glue the skeleton as according to drawings 1 and 2. From the bottom part of the skeleton glue piece 1. In the marked spaces glue piece 1a. Then glue pieces 2, 2a and 2b. The last two will be a footing for piece 5 (2a) as well as 6 (2b). The remaining uncovered elements of the skeleton glue with pieces 3 and 4. In the marked spaces glue pieces 3a, 3b and 4a. Before gluing piece 7 you must choose whether you wish to make the version with opened or closed shutters. If you choose the first version glue piece 7a into a trough an then glue from the unprinted side piece 7. Earlier in piece 7 you ought to cut and bend downwards the shutters in the marked spaces. Glue piece 8P from the bottom of the body as according to drawing 3. Analoguously piece 8L. Prepare pieces 10-15 (drawing 14) an glue to piece 3 as according to drawing 17. The recess for the power screw (piece 16) cut from the unprinted side and then glue to the body as according to drawing 12. the screw as well as the steer make as according to drawing 12 and 21. Caution should be exercised while forming the basis from wire with the thickness of 2 mm (pattern S1) to which the elements of the steer will be fixed. Wires S2 are the core of piece 25.
Undercarriage:
The fixing of the undercarriages elements are shown on drawings 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and drawing 3. Make the drive wheels stick as according to drawing 20 keeping an eye on the first elements pieces I a f (from the right side of the model) and II a-f (from the left side of the model). While fixing maintain the characteristic asymmetry of all the undercarriages rocker. Making the wheels which is the hubs, winding wheel as according to the drawings shouldn’t bring any difficulty, needed is only a high precision in making it. At this stage of the build you can make the caterpillar in a simple (drawing 18) or tough (drawing 19) version. The build of the caterpillars from single links should be left for more experienced and patient modelers. In the simple version remain the shifting of pieces 60a an 60b relatively to piece 60c.
The remaining parts of the body:
Before gluing piece 61 fix as according to the main models drawing from wire piece S5 into the proper space. Form elements 62a in a similar as piece 9 and together with piece 62 and 62b glue to piece 3 in the marked space. Glue pieces 83, 83a, 83b, 83c, 83d as according to drawing 15 and the main models drawing. The sight-glasses shield piece 85 as well as piece 84 glue in the marked space on the body and the tanks tower. The front mudguard make from pieces 86, 87, 88, 89, 90, the mudguards supports from pieces 91 and 92, and the back mudguards from piece 93. Glue from piece 94 and 95 the hooks and when ready glue them to the armour (piece 94 to the front and piece 95 to the back of the tank) in the marked spaces. The front reflector (pieces 96, 97, 98) mke as according to drawing 6. The back one from pieces 99, 99a, 99b as according to piece 7c. You can fix the tug line as according to pattern S7 to the mudguard with the help of piece 109. Make detail 108 as according to drawing 13 and when ready fix it onto the mudguard as according to the main drawing.
Tower:
Glue over the skeleton made from pieces P1-P5 (drawing 4) pieces 63-67. Glue the remaining elements 68-82 as according to drawing 5. Make the rifle as according to patterns S3 and S4.
WE WISH GREAT FUN
